Obituary of Pamela C Barkalow

Pamela C. Barkalow passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Pam was born August 25th, 1961 in Delhi to Donald W. and Elsie A. Cobbe. She graduated from Delaware Academy and SUNY Cobleskill. Pam married Fred William Barkalow on September 21st, 1985 in Delhi at the United Ministry. They celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing. Together they raised two children. Pam enjoyed working as the Office Manager for Ronald Mullinex Surveying (29 years) and later for Harry Hawley Inc. Pam was the most kind hearted, selfless person and family and friends adored her. She loved her flower gardens, arranging stone walls with Tetris- like precision, baking cookies, bird watching, going for walks at “the other place,” and being at the home farm. She cherished spending time with her family, and later, playing with her grandson. Pam loved Christmastime and decorating the Christmas tree; celebrating Ice Cream For Breakfast Day with her family; and her favorite holiday, Groundhog’s Day, because that meant Spring was coming. Pamela was predeceased by her mother on December 4th, 2007; by her father on February 1st, 2018 and by her sister- in- law Terri Peck on December 14th, 2019. She is survived by her husband of 34 years Fred; two children Matthew and Lauren (Timothy) Sherwood; one grandchild, Henry Sherwood, whom she absolutely adored; siblings David Cobbe, Joan Chytalo (Jamie O’Donnell), Stephen Cobbe (Danna), Christine Roche (William), Donald Cobbe, Thomas Cobbe (Aubrynn); nieces Stephanie Chytalo, and Marisa Chytalo (Brandon Patraw); nephews Derek Cobbe and Aaron Cobbe; Mother-in-law Wanda Aikens; sister-in-law Christy Llewellyn (Steven); Brother-in-laws Dennis Kinch and Fred Dumond; nieces Jessica Schultz (Jonathan) and Jamie Conway (Cody); nephew Jeffrey Peck; and grandniece and nephews Adalynn Schultz, Kaident Conway and Landon Schultz. At Pam’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place on June 6th, 2020 at 1:30 at the West Delhi Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delhi Fire Department, 140 Delview Terrace Ext., Delhi or to The American Cancer Society.
