Mrs. Barkalow took care of me as if I was another daughter during some of the most important years of my life. She made sure I was included in all family gatherings and always made sure I had a place to go "home" to when I couldn't be with my family. When I would come up to visit in the Summer, knowing it was a long drive, she always welcomed a friend of mine to take with me. If Lauren had to work, she would plan activities for us to do together. One of my favorite memories was going blueberry picking. Mr. and Mrs. Barkalow took myself and my friend Sean. Sean and I had spent what seemed like hours picking blueberries. When we finally met back up with Mrs. Barkalow she said "How did you guys do?!" We showed her our blueberries proudly combined together, filled up about a half of a milk gallon. She was so proud of how much we got. When we asked her how she did, she turned around and showed us 5 full milk gallons stuffed with blueberries. Sean, myself, and Mrs. Barkalow, stunned, hysterically laughing, that in the time it took us she practically quadrupled what we had. All that knew her knew she was a kind and welcoming soul, full of life. She is terribly missed. Sending Hugs and Love to Mr. Barkalow, Lauren, Tim, Henry, and Matthew.
