William V. Wetmore
1926 - 2019
Condolences
Bill was one of those people who are essential to the heartbeat of a community. Along with
Dottie and the boys, Bill crafted the relationships which signify the very best in a family or a
community or a patriotic nation.
This is not to say Bill was flawless. I was cheerfully among those who, after (or during!) a home basketball game that Bill had officiated, generously offered to pay both for the eye exam AND
the desperately needed eyeglasses......
I was also one of the fans would tell anyone listening that I would gratefully live in any community that had Bill Wetmores. Bill, along with his smiling and generous partner, Dottie,
nurtured sons who were terrific (most of the time!). i count it a blessing to have had the Wetmores as friends and neighbors. He lived a long and productive life. He can be justly
proud. He has earned the blessings of eternity, and his legacy will continue to nourish us.
Our sincere condolences to the Wetmore family on the loss of Bill..So very sorry.
So sorry to hear of Mr. Wetmore's passing. Our condolences to everyone.
My sincere condolences to the Wetmore family. Bill was such a ray of sunshine whenever he was around. I have know him since childhood and he has always made me smile with his joking and good-naturedness. He absolutely adored his family and spoke fondly of them all the time. When Bill decided to retire from South Kortright Central School, I interned under him to be his replacement. It wasn't until that time did I fully appreciate how intelligent of a man he was. He may have been silly at times, but he took his work very seriously and was extremely good at it. He mentored me, even after retirement, so that I could carry on his work as competently as was performed during his tenure. I will never forget how he took me under his wing and guided me; no ego, just to help another person do their best. Just a chuckle that used to crack me up...Bill would be carrying on a conversation in the hallway of school and when the person entered the bathroom, he would follow and continue on talking (males only)!
Bill will be missed by all those that knew him and I know that there will be a huge void in his family.
Rest in Peace
I will always cherish my 20+ years working with Bill at South Kortright. He would bring his lunch and join me in the bus garage, always with a smile and a joke. I'm very saddened to hear of his passing, but now he can keep the books straight in heaven. God bless his lovely wife and children. See you soon Bill
