Obituary of Ruth Kelsey

Ruth Kelsey, 92, of Delhi, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday morning, January 25, 2019.

Born in Delhi on February 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Wyatt C. and Laura M. (Templeton) Frisbee.

Ruth was married to J. Russell “Russ” Kelsey, he passed away on July 8, 2010.

She and Russ owned and operated Kelsey’s Restaurant and Service Station in Fraisers, a well know and loved local eatery for over 35 years from 1955 until the Kelsey’s retirement in 1992.

Ruth was a devoted 80 year member of the Frist Baptist Church of Delhi, where she was also musical director and organist for many years.

She enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking cookies and pies.  She enjoyed her family and friends and could often be found playing cards and enjoying their company.

Besides her husband, Ruth was predeceased by her children: Patricia Thompson in 2012 and J. David Kelsey in 2015.

Mrs. Kelsey is survived by her grandchildren: Gus (Holly) Thompson of Dallas, TX, Eustacia “Stacy” Kelsey of St. Louis, MO, Seth Thompson of Dallas, TX, Alisha (Ryan) O’Reilly of Hampstead, NC and Tasha (David) Moxley of Delhi; her brother: Willard (Lucille) Frisbee of Delhi; great-grandchildren: Braden, Kelsey, Ayden, Ava, Asa and Stella; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and several friends including: JoAnn, Jeff, Claudia and Marissa.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 21 Second Street, Delhi, with the Rev. Jeff Staples officiant. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Spring burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

In Lieu of  flowers contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to the First Baptist Church of Delhi.
