Doug was a great friend, classmate and teammate. You could not mention the words Charlotte Valley and not have the Calhoun's be part of the sentence.
Dear Donna and the whole family. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I have great memories of teaching at Charlotte Valley and becoming friends with Doug. We had so much fun, and we kept in touch for years. Later on he played on our YMCA basketball team and pitched on our City softball team. .. I played softball against Doug, and his brother for many years, at which he was very competitive. But, win or lose, he always had a good attitude. We had a lot of great times, conversations, and lively games. He always showed good sportsmanship, and will be missed by many. Thanks for the memories, Doug! Rest In God's Peace !.........

There are no words to lighten the pain of a family member. I would talk to Doug during girls practice, Having a bad back,He would allow me to come in and sit.I am gonna miss our chats before the games. May your family find peace at this time , And May you Rest In Peace Doug.
I had the fortune to meet Doug many, many years ago when I first started officiating high school soccer. He was a great mentor, always providing me with positive feedback and encouragement. As the years passed, I officiated over 100 basketball games at CVCS. I could always count on a friendly smile and welcome from Doug. Always the gentleman, he showed his young athletes how he expected them to act through his own actions. Doug, Ray and Lee were fixtures at Charlotte Valley, The number of young adults whose lives they had a positive impact on is almost countless. No doubt it won't be the same without his humble smile and polite manner to greet all who come to Charlotte Valley, but fortunately we'll have memories of Doug that will last for many years to come. That's the true measure of a man, and Doug epitomized that his whole life. Enjoy the after-life Doug, you've earned it!
