Obituary of Doris E. Hager

Doris E. Hager, 86, of Bloomville, passed away on Sunday evening, January 19, 2025, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford surrounded by her family.

Born on December 11, 1938, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Ida Gertrude (Hinkley) Sackett.

Doris was employed in the cafeteria at Stamford Central School and then worked for over 30 years at Audiosears in Stamford until her retirement in 1998.  She also served for many years as a Town of Kortright election inspector.

She was married to Donald Scully, Sr. who passed away in 1996, and later married Sherman Julian Hager who passed away in 2019.

Doris was a member of the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church in Davenport, where she served as a Deacon for many years.  She enjoyed reading, traveling and she especially loved her family.

Besides her parents and husbands, Doris was predeceased by her siblings. Carolyn Boyle, Roger (Margaret) Sackett, Richard (Nancy) Sackett and June Nolan; brother-in-law: Pete Scully; and sister-in-law: Patricia Jones.

She is survived by her children: Denise (Kevin) Dorosky of South Kortright, Debora (Jon) Ballard of Stamford, Donald (Penny) Scully, Jr. of South Kortright, Donna (Ken) Muthig of Hobart, and Dianne (John) Drake of Bloomville; step-children: Holly (James Thurston) Hager of Virgina, Harry (Linda) Hager of Bloomville and Henry (Ellen) Hager of Bloomville; brother: Robert Sackett of Bloomville; brothers-in-law: Bill Boyle and Charles (Dorothy) Scully; sisters-in-law: Judy (Joe) Casimir and Bonnie Merchant.; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at 1PM on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, with the Rev. Mary Jo Koehler.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville in the spring.
