Obituary of Heinz Peter Burkert

Heinz Peter Burkert, 78, of Delhi, passed away suddenly on December 16, 2024 at O’Connor Hospital.

Born on February 22, 1946 in Obernzell, Germany, he was the son of the late Alice Burkert.

Mr. Burkert proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War from 1966 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1969.

Peter was married to his wife of over 49 years, Denise (Zichella) Burkert on May 19, 1975.

He loved the Delhi area and the Western Catskills and moved here in 1981 to raise his family as it reminded him of Bavaria where he grew up.

Peter retired as Senior Vice-President of Silver Top Manufacturing in White Marsh, MD, where he worked for over 25 years.

He had a passion for farming and enjoyed his time working the land, however his greatest joy was his family, a devoted husband, proud father and doting grandfather, Peter had a great love for his grandsons.

Besides his mother, Peter was predeceased by a brother: Michael Seifert.

He is survived by his wife: Denise Burkert of Delhi; sons: Anthony Lawrence (Nydia) Burkert of Port Ewen, NY and Mathew (Sarah) Burkert of Delhi; grandsons: Anthony Peter, Gabriel Peter and Isaac Peter Burkert all of Delhi.

At Peter’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services, a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
