Obituary of Franklin R. Ehlermann

Franklin Robert Ehlermann, 74, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023 in Simpsonville, S.C.

The son of Henry F. and Lenore (Reiger) Ehlermann, he was born on July 7, 1949 in the old Delhi Hospital on Franklin Street, Delhi. He was raised on the family farm on Ehlermann Road in Delhi.

Frank graduated from Delaware Academy and Central School as a proud member of the Class of 1967, and continued his education at Delhi Ag & Tech, graduating in 1969 with a degree in civil engineering. Frank honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 until his discharge in 1974. After his service, Frank was employed by Chicago Bridge & Iron and later at Bailey Meter. In 1980, he started his own company, Conservco, in New City, New York, and spent 38 years specializing in automatic control systems. Upon retirement, he relocated to Simpsonville, S.C., where he resided until his passing. 

Frank was a very compassionate and generous man. He was a man of integrity, and donated to many charitable organizations and educational institutions that shared his values. He enjoyed returning to his roots in Delaware County - visiting family and friends, and attending class reunions.

Frank is survived by his wife, Margo, in Simpsonville, S.C., stepson John Notarmuzi, stepdaughter and husband, Daneen and Daniel Berlingieri, and grandchildren Ashley Coates, Melissa Coates, and Vincent Berlingieri. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara MacClintock (East Meredith), Marlene Baldauf (DeLancey), Fred Ehlermann (Westtown), and Alma Williamson (Dahlonega, Ga.), as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Meta Knous, and brothers-in-law Jerry Knous, Thomas Williamson, Larry MacClintock, and Max Richard Baldauf. 

A memorial service was held Dec. 15, 2023 at the McAfee Funeral Home, Simpsonville, S.C. A graveside service was held at the East Meredith Cemetery On July 21, 2024. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may donate to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
