Obituary of Thomas Eugene Freer, Jr.

Thomas Eugene Freer Jr., 60, suddenly passed away on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 at his home in Stamford, New York.

Tommy was born on September 25th, 1963 in Englewood, NJ, the son of Thomas E. Freer Sr. and late Lillian “Della” (Thorne) Freer. The family joined the Community of North Kortright, NY in 1968. Tommy went on to attend Stamford Central School, graduating in 1982.

He was previously married to Theresa Donahue and went on to have three beautiful daughters, Kellianne (Jacob) Bradshaw of Goldsboro, NC, Jessica (Derek) Carlson of Watervliet, NY and Kimberlee Freer of Saratoga Springs, NY. Tommy was predeceased by his mother, Lillian “Della” Freer. He is survived by his father Thomas E. Freer Sr. of Goldsboro, NC, siblings Joanne (Floyd) Clark of Goldsboro, NC, Russell (Mindy) Freer Milford, NY, Steven (Shannon) Freer of Goldsboro, NC, his devoted daughters, son in-laws, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He worked as a skilled carpenter for the duration of his adult life. As a young adult, he participated in softball and bowling leagues, hunting, and snowmobiling. He was a member of the North Harpersfield Hunting Club for over 20 years. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys in football, the Yankees in baseball and Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. in Nascar. He had a passion for rock and roll, where he attended many Rolling Stones and Guns & Roses concerts with his lifelong friends. He looked forward to card nights and catching up with his buddies weekly. He lived for the success of his daughters, and watched them grow, constantly cheering them on from the sidelines. He was known throughout the community as a good, hardworking man, someone who was always willing to lend a hand. As a jack of all trades, master of many, he could fix anything that was handed to him, or would at least try. He will always be remembered for his witty remarks, sense of humor, and having the biggest heart.

Please join the family in celebrating his life on Thursday May 23rd 4-7pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home in Stamford, NY. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, May 24th at the North Kortright Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stamford Community Dollars for Scholars in honor of the Freer Family or to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (https://www.stopsarcoidosis.org/donate/).
