Heinz G. Bernecker
1953 - 2024
Condolences
Just read of Heinzs passing. I have some wonderful memories of Heinz. Randomly coming downstairs at home and find him eating a banana in the parlor watching the birds out the window. Cleaning the shop for him because his kind of messy was very satisfying to organize. How he taught me to be a good consumer of a mechanic and as a girl I should know when they are talking shit. Always ask to see the broken part... to learn and confirm. He was a kind man and I liked him very much. I am glad I got to see him and say goodbye.
Heinz was our Catskills ambassador (aside from taking charge of our lawn) to all things we should know about New Kingston, Andes, Bovina and Delhi. He was ever a golden hearted kind soul. We will miss him greatly.
We sat at my kitchen table just about every week with our ice cold cans of Coke and we discussed the work to be done, trees to cut, firewood to split and always a bit of local gossip
He will be dearly missed and there will always be a supply of Cokes in my fridge to remind me of how much I enjoyed his friendship

I am so sorry to hear of Heinz's passing. Had many laughs with him working at Wickham's years ago. Condolences to his family.
I came to the Catskills only a few years ago. Soon after arriving in the Spring of 2021, Heinz came to work for me. Nominally, his work was tending my fields, keeping them trim and green throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall months. But truly, his mandate was far broader—- as I used to tell him frequently—- he took care of me. He watched out for me and guided this city dweller through the requisites of country living, I was so fortunate to be cared for by Heinz…I will miss his stories…his deep knowledge of the land and its animals…his laughter and irreverence. His courage through his illness was remarkable and a model for all of us. I will miss his presence always. I send my condolences to Holly and to his large extended family. Victoria Sharp
Heinz was a wonderful person. A great storyteller and always there for you if you needed help. Everyone who knew him liked him and enjoyed spending time with him. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our hearts go out to Holly and his family.

Christa and Elsa,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your brother.
Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him.
This man was a long-standing and valuable friend from the first time I took my car to his garage, to the recent chance-meeting when we ran into each other in Russells Store on his way to his Bovina jobs, mowing.
He had my respect.and friendship. What more could we ask of anyone?
We are so very sorry, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time
