Obituary of Janice Burdick

Janice  Burdick, 78, of Bloomville passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 5, 1945 in Oneonta, Janice is the daughter of father: Harlon Briscoe and mother: Beulah Francisco.

She was a 1963 graduate of Delaware academy and went on to graduate from SUNY Delhi.

Mrs. Burdick was married to Alden Burdick on December 17, 1966 at the Bloomville United Methodist Church. 

Janice retired as Election Commissioner from Delaware County Board of Elections.

She enjoyed gardening, being out in the sunshine and playing golf with Alden, she also loved watching Tiger Woods.  Janice loved to dance, listen to Elvis Presley and enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars.

Besides her parents, Janice was predeceased by her siblings: Shirley Slicer and Richard Briscoe.

She is survived by her husband: Alden Burdick; her daughter: Paula (Tim) Schermerhorn; grandchildren: Matt (Sydney), Chelsea and Ben Casey; sisters: Phyllis (Wally) Heannings, Barbara (Glen) Miller and Laura (Frank) Aji; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 12PM on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Bloomville United Methodist Church, followed by a celebration of life from 1-4PM at the Bloomville Fire Hall.
