Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Russell Barringer, Jr.

Charles “Chuck” Russell Barringer Jr. 71 of Davenport passed away peacefully January 6, 2024.

He was born on August 8, 1952 at Baltimore City Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Charles Russell Barringer Sr. and Angeline Mabel Bazemore.  Chuck graduated from High school 7 Corp Support Command Education Center, Nelligen, Germany, where he served in Germany for 14 months in Vietnam.

He married Roberta McCulley on July 21, 1994 who survives him.  Chuck is also survived by two children: Charles R. Barringer III (Melissa) of Oneonta, NY and Darleen LeVine (Meshia) Ocala, Fl.; as well as two stepchildren: Matthew Wayman (Katie) of East Meredith, NY and Adam Wayman of Davenport, NY. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Vivian, Lucus, Caleb, Hazel, Saoirse, and Collin.

Chuck served in the Army Reserves at Fort Bragg, NC.  Following his service in the Army Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force reserves at Westchester County Airport White Plains, NY.

He then worked at Macy’s in White Plains, NY for a short time before he became a Verizon employee for 24 years and 10 months prior to retirement.  After a short time of retirement Chuck decided to go back to work at Homeland Security office in Albany, NY as a TSA. Then he had a couple different public transits jobs to follow.  Chuck also in his spare time owned and operated a DJ service called Country Sounds.  He loved to DJ weddings and family parties with his wife by his side.

Chuck also was a lifetime member of Bass Anglers Association, the NRA, VFW Post 2752 Schenevus and was the Vice President of Charlotte Valley Senior Citizens.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours from 1-3PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the MacArthur Funeral Home 15 Buntline Drive Stamford, NY 12167.  A burial with military honors will take place in the spring at the Davenport Cemetery.
