Obituary of John Kenneth Carron

John Kenneth Carron Sr. Better known as “Ken, or Kenny” 86 of Delhi, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023.

He was born on June 28, 1937, in Ellenville, NY., son of the late Margaret and John Joseph Carron who were both Irish immigrants.  His family moved to Ossining, NY where he grew up and went to Stepinac High School, graduating in 1955.  He served in the Army National Guard for four years while obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College.  He married his beautiful wife Valeria Weldon on April 15, 1960, who survives him.  They eventually settled in Congers, NY, where he raised his family.  Ken went on to obtain his master’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He worked as an accountant for Refined Sugars and Syrups for 30 years and later worked at his brother-in-law’s hardware store in Darien, Connecticut where he enjoyed meeting new people every day.

Ken and Val enjoyed many vacations and camping trips with their family and friends.  They also spent many of their vacations at their home in Hilton Head, South Carolina where they spent their time golfing and visiting with their friends and family.

Ken retired in October of 2000, and he and Val moved to Delhi, NY, to be close to his son, John Kenneth Carron Jr., his wife, Karin and their two children Macayla, and Sean.  He was able to be a big part of his grandchildren’s lives while they were growing up whether it be at a school activity or a sporting event.

Ken loved his church and his friends however his greatest passion was his family.  He was a man who put everyone before himself, thus giving him the nickname “kind Ken”.  He was a religious man who believed strongly in the word of God and helping his fellow man.  He was an active member of St. Peter’s Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering at many of their community events.

He will be missed terribly by all who knew him including his wife Valeria, his children Maureen Carron, Eileen Moss, and John Carron (Karin) and his grandchildren Macayla and Sean Carron, and Kieran and Brendan Moss along with his many nieces, nephews, and distant cousins.

Besides his parent’s Ken was predeceased by his sisters Ann McHugh, and Veronica Talotta, as well as his brother Lawrence Carron.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at St. Peter’s Church, 8 Franklin Street, Delhi, NY with Rev. Edward Golding Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Ken can be made to St. Peter’s Church or to Helios Care, 297 River Street Service Road, Suite 1, Oneonta, NY 13820 (www.helioscare.org)
