Obituary of Beatrice Sarter
Beatrice Sarter, 74, of Stamford passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Born on November 5, 1949, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Byrne) O’Rourke.
Beatrice graduated from Delehanty Highschool in Jamica, Queens, NY and went on to receive a degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse working at the former Bathgate Hospital in Stamford and also worked in the Labor and Delivery department at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, NY. Following her retirement, Beatrice went on to receive an associate’s degree in graphic arts.
She was married to Christopher Sarter, Sr. on June 7, 1969, Christopher passed away on October 20, 2004.
Beatrice was a member of the Stamford Fire Department. She enjoyed knitting, hunting, and fishing, traveling, summers spent in New England visiting the beach, spending time in the city and visiting Murphy’s Pond, her favorite place with her children. However, her greatest passion was her family, she loved being with her family, her children and grandchildren were very important to her, Beatrice especially loved watching and hearing about her grandchildren’s multiple sporting events.
She is survived by her children: Christopher (Gina) Sarter of East Windsor, NJ, Catherine (Jim) Snyder of Stamford, Sean Sarter of Stamford, Terrence (Jackie) Sarter of Stamford, Daniel (Lindsey Gavette) Sarter of Stamford and Meagan Sarter of Stamford; twelve grandchildren: Christopher Sarter, Emily, Molly, and Elyse Snyder, Hailey, Ayana, Savannah, Isabell and Autumn Sarter, Anthony and Alexis Sarter, and Mckinley Wayman; sisters: Margaret (Michael) Bame and Rose Marie Norman; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY. A Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, December 16 at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford.
