Obituary of Donna Marie Burgin

Donna Marie Burgin passed peacefully on July 19, 2023, at 77 years of age at Wilson Hospital. 

She was born September 4, 1945, to Raymond and Mildred (Close) Ackerley in Margaretville, New York.

Donna grew up in Andes and graduated from Andes Central School in 1963, and later graduated from SUNY Delhi.

Donna met Richard Burgin, her future spouse, at the Andes Hotel at a New Year's Eve party. They were married in Delhi at The First Presbyterian Church in 1966.  The couple were blessed with two children Lorine and Matthew.

Along with her husband Richard “Dick”, they were actively involved in various positions in the church. Donna also worked at several different jobs, retiring as a lab tech from Dellwood’s in Frasers in 2010, following the death of her husband.
Donna had a love of all animals especially horses which she owned and rode for many years, she also enjoyed tubing and canoeing in the West Branch of the Delaware River with family and friends. "Wine Walks" and hikes in the Andes area and Kentucky Derby parties with friend Holly soon became a tradition.

Donna had many adventures, fun times, and travels with "the Girls, " including Vicki, Cheryl, Sue, Wendy, and Ruth. Travels included Bermuda, Australia, Russia, Hawaii, and many more.
Donna's gentle, easy-going nature will be missed by friends and family. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lorine and Peter Bracci and her son and daughter-in-law: Matthew and Lorena Burgin; grandchildren: Heather Bracci, Nathan Bracci, Carlene (Peter Crane), Katherine (Austin Pecenak), Amber and Andrew Baker, and Joshua & Olivia Burgin; her sister and brother-in-law: Carol & Paul Dibble; and many nephews and nieces. Donna adored her great-granddaughter Payton Crane.  

Donna was predeceased by her parents and elder siblings: Gerald and Larry Ackerley and Linda Rosa. Nieces Debra Cronk and Kathy Rosa.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
