Obituary of Robert "Bob" C. Wittko, Sr.

Robert Charles Wittko, Sr. “Bob”, 84, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 with his family and faithful dog Snowflake by his side after suffering from a stroke. Bob was a long-term resident of South Kortright, NY, and resided in Ash, North Carolina for the past 25 years.

Bob was born in Stormville, NY on July 17, 1939. He graduated from Stamford Central School in 1956. He entered the Marines in October of 1956 and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1959. Following his military service, Bob then went to work on a poultry farm.  In 1965 Bob began work at Eklunds Farm Machinery for a year.  

He was married in 1967 to Janet E Wittko (Mead), of South Kortright, NY. Bob became a Deputy Sherriff at the Delaware County Sheriff's office in 1966, and he also installed pools on the side. In 1975 he and Janet moved to Glenns Falls to sell hearing aids.  When Bob's father died in 1977, the couple moved back to South Kortright where they opened their own hearing aid business and began farming as well.

The couple moved to Ash, NC in 1995 where they continued their hearing aid business in North Myrtle Beach, SC until retiring from his business in 2015, where he then went on to work in assembly at Lowe's, earning employee of the year in 2017.  Following his employment with Lowe's, Bob began working for Door Dash, where he earned the status of Top Dasher, a job continued this work until his passing. Bob gave 100% to every job he had throughout his life, just as he did with his family.

Bob is survived by his sister: Grace (Thomas) Kniel of Wichita, KS; his children and step-children: Robert Dyer, Jr. of Mansfield, PA,  Pamela Jenkins of Mansfield, PA, Michealle (Jim) Cole of Burlington Flats, NY,  Marlene (DJ) Reed of Stamford, NY,  Robert Wittko, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tami (Dan) Fancher of South Kortright, NY; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Bob was predeceased by his brother Louis J. Wittko, Jr. (Kathy), of Canajoharie, NY.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for his funeral service at 1PM on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive,  Stamford, NY.  Burial with military honors will follow at Valley View Cemetery in South Kortright. The family would like to invite all  for a reception at 3:00 at the VFW in Stamford, NY.

The family would like to extend an extra thank you to the hospice workers who have helped them through this time.
