Obituary of Richard B. Hinman

Richard B. Hinman, 88, of Stamford, passed away on Monday evening, May 15, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, surrounded by his family.

Born on September 1, 1934, in Cornwall on Hudson, Richard was the son of the late Earl C. and Ida (Horobin) Hinman.

Richard was married to Joan (Wald) Hinman on March 12, 1960.

He enjoyed reading, especially about history.  Richard was a devout Roman Catholic, a parishioner of The Sacred Heart Parish.  He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Richard was also involved with several social and community organizations including Kiwanis, Rotary, the Historical Society, Core Values, and the Ontario & Western Railway Historical Society.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by a brother: Earl Hinman.

He is survived by his wife: Joan Hinman of Stamford; son: Darin J. Hinman of Montgomery; sister: Phyllis Fitzgerald of OH; his niece: Kelly Zalesak along with other several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford.  A Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper Street, Stamford.  Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.
