Obituary of Marie Connell Peterman

Marie (Connell) Peterman, 69, of Hobart, New York was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Friday, April 21^st. Her partner of 27 years, Tee Gould, was thankfully by her side.

Marie was born in Johnson City, New York on October 22nd, 1953.  She spent her earliest years living in North Orwell, Pennsylvania, moving with her family to Endwell, New York in 1957.  Marie graduated from Maine-Endwell High School in 1972. 

Growing up in Endwell, Marie was blessed with several close friends.  She loved her family and had a playful sense of humor.  Amongst her family and close friends, she was known as “Cookie” – a nickname that she liked very much.

Marie was blessed with a very strong work ethic.  Be it helping with yard work or in the performance of her job responsibilities at Bates Troy and Red Roof Inn, she could always be counted on to drive the very best results.  She would grace the family with the tastiest fresh-baked coffee cake, loved camping, was fond of dogs, enjoyed watching hummingbirds, loved unabashedly singing Carly Simon songs while listening on headphones, was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and consistently cheered for the New York Yankees. 

While most of her time was spent in Upstate New York, life’s direction took her and her family to Maryland and Florida before ultimately returning to New York.  She was a loving Mom and raised two wonderful daughters of whom she was rightfully proud.  One her greatest joys was knowing that she had two beautiful twin granddaughters and always cherished that she was able to share their first birthday cake with them.

Marie is predeceased by her parents (James and Geraldine) and her brother, Paul.

She is survived by her partner Tee Gould; two daughters Carla (Patrick) Williams of White Marsh, MD  and Kristen Peterman and her fiancé John of Latrobe PA; 2 twin grandchildren Ellen and Elaina Williams; sister Ceil (Randy) Watson of Glade Valley, NC; brother John (Ellen) Connell of Madison, NH; Nephews Nicholas Sliz, Mark Sliz, James Connell, Jeff Connell and Cyle Connell; Nieces Jackie Visser and Jessica Connell; great-nephews Nicholas and Alex Sliz; and former husband Carl Peterman of Greenwood, DE.

Marie will be buried alongside her parents in Charlotte, North Carolina later this year.  While there will be no services locally, there will be a heartfelt Celebration of Life held in Charlotte at a date that is not yet scheduled.

The family is uplifted by the loving support we have received over the past troubling days.  In lieu of flowers, please hug tightly the ones you love.
