Obituary of Thomas J. Posey

Thomas John Posey, 93, of Hobart, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home.

Born on June 30, 1929, Thomas was the son of the late Harold and Lillian (Tremmell) Posey.

He proudly served in the US Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge and release from reserve duty in 1957.

Thomas married his wife of 53 years, Joyce Weaver Posey on March 21, 1970.

He worked as a truck driver for UPS in Parsippany, NJ until his retirement in 1985, following his retirement, Thomas and Joyce moved to their retirement home in the Catskills.

Thomas loved the outdoors and his home “his own piece of heaven on earth”, he also enjoyed traveling and camping.  He had a passion for locomotives and was a history buff, often reading and watching the discovery channel.  Thomas enjoyed music, especially from the 1930s and 40.  He was a skilled “Jack of All Trades”, he could repair and maintain autos and machinery and was a gifted builder, plumber and electrician, doing most of his own repairs on his home.

Besides his wife Joyce, Thomas was survived by his children, including his daughter: Donna (David) Earl of Sparta, NJ; grandchildren: Christopher, Elyse (Andrew), David and Janet; and three great-grandchildren: Carter, Drew and Lena.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 12PM on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper Street, Stamford, NY with the Rev. Paul Mijas, celebrating.
