My sincerest condolences to all of Joe’s family and friends. I was blessed to know Joe as a neighbor, schoolmate, a long-time employee of my Dad, and greatest of all, friend. Through all adversity and sadness Joe faced throughout the time I knew him, he always showed an optimism that I admired so much. I am certain it came from his generous and pure heart, always thinking of others before himself. Joe was the type to give anyone anything he had, even if it meant he’d go without. We were in Bassett Cardiology at the same time in August. I recognized his voice and loudly said, “Joe Gustin!” It was a comfort hearing him reply with an affirmative “yes.” I checked in with him over messenger and I will treasure his voice messages. He told me he always thought of me as a little sister. I feel so blessed that Joe is a part of my life story. Your loving and generous soul is in the presence of Jesus, your earthly body at rest. I pray that God will provide comfort and peace to your children and family during this difficult time as they navigate through grief. Rest in peace, beautiful friend.
