Obituary of Charles K. Travell

Charles K. Travell, 81, of Stamford, passed away early Sunday morning, October 30, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. 

Born on August 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Cecil H. and Laura Mae (Place) Travell. 

Charlie married Karen E. Travell on December 31, 1981, a union that lasted 33 years until her passing in 2016.

He worked on various dairy farms over the years, including several years with Barber’s Farm in Hobart and Prospect Farms in Stamford.  In his later years Charlie worked with Green Thumb at the DEC in Stamford. 

Charlie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he often challenged others to a game of ladderball; Chuckles also loved telling jokes, fishing, playing cards and watching tractor pulls at the local county fair.  He was an accomplished league bowler. 

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings: Ivan, Cecil and Howard Travell, Laura Lafever, Norah Hewitt and Effie Osterhoudt. 

Charlie is survived by his children: Larry (Barbra) Miller, Jr. of Hobart and Kim (Luc) Walterthum of France; grandchildren: Madison, Clara, Gus and Isabelle; siblings: Jean, Daniel “Skip”, and John Travell and Sarah Ballard.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the love and support the Pavilion provided to Charlie over these past seven years.

Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, followed by a celebration of life at the Stamford Fire Hall.
