Obituary of Lester K. Bishop, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the Bishop family announces the death of Lester K. Bishop Jr. He passed away on August 15, 2022 at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving wife Sharon, his daughters Nannette and Irene, son James and grandson LK(Farah).

Lester joins his father Lester Bishop, mother Carmen Bishop Melendez, sister Irene A. Bishop, and sons Lester III and Richard who have proceeded him in death.

Lester was born on December 5, 1943, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Astoria, New York. He was a property manager for over 45 years in New York and a proud member of the Sandhogs Local 147 Union.  Lovingly known as Buddy, he was a friend to all and he could always make you laugh. Lester had many interests, he was an avid fisherman, photographer, astronomer, and bowler. He loved a good cold Heineken and lobster. Lester loved spending time with his wife and looked forward to her great meals.

Lester is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon (Cannon) Bishop, along with daughters Nannette (Kirwin) Ferra, Irene (Steve) Meszaros, and son James Bishop; his treasured grandchildren LK, Taylor, Jordan, and Gwinevere; and great-grandchild Scarlett; brothers Paul, Ralph (Gresi), Patrick (Elisa), Richard (Dawn)Bishop, and sister Terry (Dale) Bishop Maxfield; sisters-in-law Nan Cannon and June (Sig) Langner, and many beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
