Obituary of Elinor Storey Mason

Elinor Storey Mason passed away Friday evening June 24^th, 2022.

She Was born in Margaretville on July 8^th, 1935. She was married to Dale Mason on April 23^rd, 1955; he predeceased her on April 12^th, 1993.

Elinor worked many years at Delaware Academy in the Elementary and High School cafeteria. She enjoyed working there mostly because she got to see her grandchildren every day and would spoil them with money for extra snacks and desserts after lunch.

During her summers off you could find Elinor in one of her many gardens around the farm.  In the fall she would spend many hours after work raking her lawn until it was leaf free and as it got colder, she loved to spend her free time in the house doing word search puzzles. Each week Elinor enjoyed cooking Sunday lunches for her family that always included her famous chocolate chip cookies.  Her children will carry out her tradition of cooking with her special BBQ sauce and teaching the grandchildren so the recipe will always carry on.

Elinor is survived by her children: Pam (Brian) Purdy, Michael (Anna) Mason; sister: Arleta Jenkins; and sister-in-law: Ruthie Storey.  She has several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Besides her husband, Elinor was predeceased by her children: Debra Kirby, Gary Mason, and Kevin Mason.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
