Obituary of Linda M. Vausse

Linda Maria Vausse, 73, of Walton, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her family following a long battle with cancer.

Born on August 23, 1948 in Margaretville, NY, Linda was the daughter of the late Lee and Hilda (Bordeau) Gibson.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 47 years, Russell Paul Vausse on November 5, 2016.

Linda had a deep love for her family, volunteering, camping, and car shows which she enjoyed along with her sister Leanne Marescotto of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. One of her most proud possessions was her 2011 Kona blue Mustang. Linda would take every opportunity to head out on the road to enjoy the countryside (and burn off some tires). During the only week she would take vacation from work, she would go to the Delaware County Fair as it gave her such joy. Linda was also very involved with the local Cub Scout packs and spent many years volunteering as a Den Mother. During her free time on long weekends, she enjoyed going to the family camp in Cold Brook, NY along with her family and friends, where her fondest memories were made. She had a green thumb; you could always find her tending to her flowers and vegetable garden. In her later years she enjoyed spending her time with Bridget, her son Jason's dog, who would always keep her company throughout the day.

Linda worked as the Food Bank Coordinator for Delaware Opportunities in Hamden, NY for over 20 years before she retired. She was devoted to her work and found great pride in helping those in her community. While working full time, she also volunteered countless hours helping many families and making a positive impact on so many lives.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister (of 8 siblings), sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Linda was involved with every aspect of her families lives and wellbeing. She was proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Linda is survived by three children: Paula (Matt) Knutsen of Otego, Jason (Kimberly) Vausse of Walton, and Sarah (Sam) Marinak of Connecticut and her five grandchildren: Tristan, Dalton, and Bryanna Knutsen all of Otego, Courtney Vausse of Walton, Gianna Marinak of Connecticut; and the newest edition to the family, her great grandchild Brantley Knutsen of Sherburne; her sister-in-law Lorraine Vausse of Andes, along with many nieces and nephews.

Private burial and services will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Delhi.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda’s name can be made directly to Delaware Opportunities Food Bank in Hamden, NY by mail 35430 NY-10 Hamden, NY 13782, as well as donating nonperishable items to the food bank directly.
