Obituary of Michael W. Barnes

Michael W. Barnes, 67, of Albany, formerly of Stamford, passed away at home on Monday morning, October 4, 2021.

Born on April 24, 1954, in Oneonta, Michael was one of four sons to the late Wayne and Patti (O’Brien) Barnes.

Michael was an educator for over 33 years, spending 13 years at Mercyhurst University, Erie, PA and retired as Professor Emeritus of the Hospitality and Business programs at SUNY Delhi where he taught for 20 years.

He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the College Golf Course at Delhi.

Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his wife: Diana (Warner).

Michael is survived by his wife: Suzanne Barnes of Albany, NY; three children: Dr. Ryan (Mandy) Barnes of San Diego, CA, Michael P. (Beth) Barnes of Boston, MA and Sara Barnes of Jacksonville Beach, FL; grandchildren: Blake, Brooks, Tristan and Xander; Brothers: Vern, William and James Barnes; along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 10AM until 12PM on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY.  A Mass will be celebrated at 1PM on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, NY.
