Obituary of Frieda Snyder

Frieda E. Snyder, 85, of Delhi, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 2, 2021 at her home in Delhi following a long illness.

Born on July 7, 1935 in Weeping Water, Nebraska, Frieda was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Frieda Sander.

She was married to her husband of 62 years, Frank Snyder in 1958.  Together the couple operated the family dairy farm on route 10 in Delhi until 1972.  

Frieda was a talented cook and chef and worked for several local establishments including the former Coach Lamp Inn, O’Connor Hospital and owned and operated Frieda’s Village Inn.  She was also known to cater several events in the area. Frieda was famous for her baking talents and her delicious sticky buns were known and loved by all.   Frieda was a caring and loving person and would often be found helping others, her family would like you to continue that tradition in her honor.

She had many hobbies and passions including growing flowers and tending to her beautiful flower beds, she even worked for JD Winter’s greenhouse.  She also loved collecting angel figurines and displayed them in her home.

Besides her parents, Frieda was predeceased by her brothers: Donald, Wilhelm and Henry Sander.

She is survived by her husband: Frank Snyder of Delhi; children Kathrina “Tina” (Patrick) McMorris of Otego and Wayne Snyder of Delhi; grandchildren: Michael Hitchcock of Otego, Shanna Hitchcock of Otego, Tabetha (Gerald Dix) Knapp of Hancock, Kayleigh (Mark) Reardon of Delhi and Brandon (Rachel Mathiesen) Snyder of Delhi; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Haileigh, Allie, Corey and Riley; sister-in-law: Freda Sander; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frieda’s family would like to express a special thank you to all of Frieda’s caretakers that allowed her to be in her own home, especially Tracey Knapp Snyder, Kathy Sander, Kara Peck and LeAnn Ellerson.

A celebration of Freida's life will be held from 1PM to 4PM on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Delhi American Legion Pavillion, 41 Page Ave., Delhi.
