My parents knows the family from Margaretville. I know Mel from Countryside. I believe I met James just once or twice. He was a just a little guy than; maybe seven or eight. He had a Big smile but was shy.

There are no real words or thoughts one can convey when we lose a person we we love, appreciate and have shared time with. James was a very personable, talented and polite young man, always ready with a big smile. His natural, innate acting abilities have blessed many in our small town. Many of my own children have shared with him in plays, school activities and personal time. He will be greatly missed, and we wish his family peace and comfort now - and in the days and weeks ahead. Petey was one of the most memorable people I met at Canton. He always cheered me up and if he ever saw me sitting alone at the dining hall he would sit with me and just talk to me and make me laugh before he ran off to brighten up someone else’s day. Of course as the older one I felt like I had to give him some stern talkings to but he never held it against me. He never spoke poorly of others. He was a genuinely good soul.
