Obituary of Dorothy Clancy

Dorothy Clancy, 62, of Treadwell and Babylon passed away at her home Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Born on December 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, She was the daughter of the late Peter Winkler, Sr. and Dorothy Kaja Winkler.

She had worked for several years as a buyer for Ponderosa Packaging in Melville, NY.

Dorothy was a devoted Roman Catholic, loved music and lived life like a song, she enjoyed reading cooking, crocheting and was a true artist in every aspect of her life. Dorothy was a caring, giving and compassionate person. She also enjoyed spending time with her K-9 companions.  Above all her greatest joy was her family, she was a loving wife and proud mother.

After a long battle with cancer, God has taken Dorothy to another place. One of his finest creations; adored by family, friends and near strangers. She was everybody’s favorite everything. An amazing mother, wife, friend, sister, aunt, daughter. She had a natural tendency to put other people first with a smile that could warm the coldest hearts. She made everyone feel they mattered and that’s because they genuinely did. Anyone can see she was beautiful but those lucky enough to know her knew that beauty was equally matched or surpassed on the inside. She was never hard to love.

Besides her father, Dorothy was predeceased by a brother-in-law: Jim Bucchino.

She is survived by her best friend and husband: George Clancy; daughters: Kristin Schultz of Massapequa, Laura (Robert) Reuschenberg of Kings Park and Jill Clancy of Babylon; her mother: Dorothy Winkler of Massapequa; father and mother-in-law: George and Veronica Clancy of Floral Park; siblings: Denise (Richard) Rauff of Bethpage, Donna Porter of Massapequa, Peter (Marie-Elana) Winkler, Jr., of Massapequa and Allison (Michael) Galatioto of Arizona; brother and sister-in-laws: Jim (Maureen) Clancy of Wilton, CT, Tom (Lisa) Clancy of Westtown, Karen Bucchino of Floral Park and Stephen (Suzanne) Clancy of Queens; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. One thing those that love her know for sure is that this world needs more Dorothy’s.
