Obituary of Richard Pearson
Richard Pearson of Delhi passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2020.
He was born May 21, 1936. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Ebbert and Elsa and a brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Susie; son: Richard; daughters: Nancy and Erika; and his special granddaughter: Mackenzie. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nephews: Donald and Jack.
Dick was an avid turkey and deer hunter. He used a bow, rifle and muzzle loader which he
got his “big” one with. He hunted with his son, Dickie; his wife, Susie and several other buddies.
Richard served his hitch in the Army for two years. He was a contractor for many years and took a lot
of pride in always doing things “the right way”. He worked with Dickie and they worked hand in
glove. They were an excellent team.
He loved splitting wood and stacking his wood piles. They were done perfectly…”a place for every piece”. He took a great deal of pride knowing his girls always looked after him. It meant a lot to him. He was so proud of all three of his “kids” and their accomplishments. He was so happy and mentioned so many times that we had such a close relationship with the “kids”. Later, when his favorite granddaughter was born, they spent time together in the garden, in the tree house and picking flowers. They all meant the world to him.
Dick had a very fond and close relationship with his brother-in-law, Bob. They talked together like a couple of old hens and had a friendly competition as to who got the first ripe tomato out of their gardens.
He had acquired so many dear friends over the years; too numerous to name, and enjoyed every minute with them-playing cards, bowling, hunting, attending sports events, camping and just sitting and chatting. He was a big sports participant in high school, college and in town teams. He attended Delhi Tech and was in the construction division.
Dick cherished his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved hearing a joke.
