Condolences
My condolences to Dan's Family - We met so many years ago when Dan returned to Long Island from the Philippines. We Tech’d together at the Animal Emergency Hospital for along time. I was so grateful that we were able to reconnect so many year later when we both moved upstate. My business visits with Dan gave me such joy to relive our shared past fun & experiences.
Rest in Peace my friend – you will be greatly missed

Many years, many visits. Lots of great advice. I will always remember Dr. Dan. Our hearts go out to the family and staff of his office. He was a great man, a great Dr. and he is sorely missed. Molly, Sammy and Chloe
I met Dan around 2002, when he gave my dog 4 more years of life when every other vet was telling me to put her down. Over the years our relationship grew into a friendship. We didn't see each other often, as I lived downstate. But time between was never a factor. Dan had a huge impact on my life. Last we spoke he had been doing better. As a front line healthcare worker, I kind of dropped off the grid for a while during the pandemic surge. He was never far from my mind and I had hoped that no news was good news. I only learned of his passing recently and I am so incredibly saddened by it. Dan had such a tremendous impact on the lives of so many people and so many families. This world was a better place with him in it. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.
I’m so saddened by Dr.Dan’s passing. There are so
many good memories I have since we first brought
our cat,Ginger and then our puppy, Sweetie to his
practice in 2003. He was the VERY BEST doctor
who ever treated our pets.
As we traveled back and forth downstate for my
husband’s medical treatments our first and last
stops were always Dr.Dan’s office to board and
then pick up our pets.
When our cat had to be put to sleep in the dead of winter he kept her there until the Spring when we could bury her.
In 2010, I returned back to Stamford after my
husband’s burial downstate to retrieve my dachshund Sweetie, Dr.Dan came out to the waiting room to offer his condolences.
After I relocated to LI in 2012, I still called and asked for his opinion about lab work the new vet had done.
I had the utmost confidence in Dr.Dan’s medical skills
and never forgot his kindnesses to our family.
My heart goes out to his family and I will keep all of you in my prayers.
All these memories indicate just how much influence he had with both human and animal communities nearby. I know I relied on him completely. To all the staff, my condolences. I know you have been living with this inevitability for some time. I thank you for your attention and kindness and hope that you are all in places where your caring skills (many learned from Dan), are used to the fullest. To the family, please know that Dan's influence will be passed down to future generations. His kindness and compassion won't disappear. - Betsy Miller (and the more than 15 animals who have benefited from Grand Gorge Animal Hospital)
He took care of my critters. One of my male cats had to have a full removal of his urinary tract, cause he was totally blocked and making him like a female was all that could be done. Very involved surgery, and recovery for my BOOM BOOM. But as always DOC did awesome, and so did our kitty. He was one of the BEST VETS I ever had, and I am 60 years old and have had pets all my life. WE LOVED YOU DOC, and will NEVER FORGET how special a man we were blessed to have.
I am so sorry to read of Dr. Dan's death. He took really good care of my dogs and cats and I am sad knowing he is no longer with us.
We moved up here in 2004 and Dr. Dan has taken care of our birds. He was a genuine lover of animals and faithful to his practice. If he was not able to fulfill his commitment to treating, he referred to the best of his colleagues. We are thankful for the times we visited his office and were able to have the comfort offered by his and his staffs services. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Dan took great care of my 2 dogs and my stray cat. He and his staff were the best. He will be missed by so very many pets and owners. Cathy Straus Adams
Dan Sullivan was one of the best people in my world.we had some good times when I would come in with my dog MUD. Rest in peace-I wait to see you again. In that other place ! Your friend,RAY
So sorry, was a wonderful man. I remember bringing him my parakeet when my oldest put nail polish on his feet and wings. God bless his whole family during this time.
I cannot express what a wonderful caring man Dr. Dan was towards me and my family. My heart is heavy with sadness at the loss of such a great man and Vet. He was
So good to my animals and when I needed sympathy and gentle consolation he was there like no other vet I have ever had. I know he is in God’s hands, watching over all his loved ones and the animals. Sending hugs to heaven, Dr. Dan you will be deeply missed. Thank you for your dedication and love!
my deeply condolences to Doc Dan family..
Rest in Peace Doc GOD bless your soul..
surly will gonna miss you...you will be in my prayers
Rip..
We were so saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. Our sincere sympathy goes out to Kathy and his family.
We spent many times talking with him about ordinary things every time we brought one of our pets in and we have many. I guess that’s why sometimes you had to wait beyond your appointment time to see him. The kind of guy he is. Spent time with his clients/friends. Not a rushing you in and out kinda guy. And no one ever seemed to mind the wait. Compassionate man when euthanasia was your only choice. Saw us through the death of many a pet. I only wish there were more vets out there like him. He will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace my friend..... you will always remain in our hearts.
Lots of love
Peg and Joe

This is such a great loss . Dr. Dan was so caring and kind . He has helped us out many times with our many animals . Hugs, love and prayers for you all . My heart is truly broken .
I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Dan was a great man and served our community well. He is sorely missed.
I consider myself so incredibly lucky to be counted among those who had the opportunity to work with Dan, and witness his passion and skill in action. But anyone who has ever worked for Dan knows well that to join that group was to become a part of a family. His friendship, his ear when I needed advice (and often his opinion even if I didn’t), and his support as I continued forward in my career beyond being his employee truly impacted my life. I am so deeply grieved that the planet has lost another hero, someone who truly sacrificed themselves for the lives and well being of others. My love and thoughts are with his family, and know if there is anything I can do for any of you, just ask.
Love,
Sarah
Such a kind and caring man. My husband had multiple myeloma. I had never heard of it until then.
I'm wondering hear this news, my sincere sympathies to his family and friends
Thanks for the compassion and sincere loving care that Dr Dan gave to the cockers that I rescued with the guidance of Joan of CockerPals. He was an amazing man that the world will always miss. Thank you beyond words Dr Dan.

my husband and i are beyond heartbroken, Dan will be missed. RIP Dan!
much love from david rodas/ monica bethencourt and out menage of animals that will miss Dan horribly as well
He really was a caring person ,toward 2 and 4 footed friends, feathers or gills. He even had chicken soup. for my sick dog. We will miss him .
My condolences to his family. Dr. Dan has touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. Being our vet for over 15 years i can say we will never have another vet caring for our animals the way he did.
Dr. Dan was our Vet for close to 20 years. For most of that time I ran a Cocker Spaniel Rescue and had a standing Wed. morning appointment. For some of the dogs it was a "wellness check" , for others it was for lifesaving treatment.
Dan treated each of them with kindness and compassion and is responsible for over 500 cockers having a chance at a brand new life.
I often said that I couldn't do what I did without him doing what he did and he has a rescue community grateful to him.
Over the years Dan was not only my Vet became became a dear friend.
Dan- I love you and miss you. RIP my friend.
Joan and CockerPalsRescue
Thank you Dr. Dan for 20 years of taking care of my babies and for being a friend. My deepest condolences to your girls and your wife.
My friendship with Dr. Dan resulted from becoming employed by him, to help take care of his personal animals. At that time it included his horse Romaleigh, what was supposed to be his daughter’s horse; Gretchen ( a POA), and a mini that he saved, called Susie Q. There were also passenger pigeons, and a pit bull dog that was also a rescue. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working for Dan. Through a series of different events, Gretchen came to live with me, when she proved to be somewhat uncooperative with the other two horses! Dan put her in my hands with nothing in return but my word that I would take good care of her. Dan made me one happy soul, as Gretchen was with me from the age of 5 till her passing 5 months ago at the age of 31 years. Everyone who knows me, knew Gretchen and how she came to be a part of my life through Dr. Dan. Thank you Dan. The thanks extends from the multitude of young people who received their first horse experiences with my beloved Gretchen. Amazing how one act of kindness can affect so many other lives. You will be missed, but remembered with fondness . My condolences to the family.
I am so sorry for your loss.i met Dan toward the end of this journey and very much enjoyed the time I spent with him love and light to you fly high Dan

Dan was the very best vet to all our animals, no matter the time of day or night. He went above and beyond to help both his four legged and two legged friends. He also was so very generous to Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, helping the area's many homeless animals. I feel blessed to have been able to also call him friend. His passing is a huge loss to the community that he served so graciously for years. My heart hurts for Cathy and his whole family. The Rainbow Bridge and all its residents are now the lucky ones with Dr. Dan there. RIP Dan.
Thank you to Dr Dan for being the most trusted vet & taking care of my beautiful baby, Arthur. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. You will be truly missed.
I knew Dr as as Vet for my dogs. He was always there even for the unexpected porcupine encounters with dogs. Thank you Dr Dan and all my best to your family. You were famous in this part of the Catskills for your caring and humor.
Dan saved the life of our dog Molly who had been hit by a car and badly injured; another vet told us she was beyond help. He called her his "miracle dog." This was not long after he opened his practice. He asked us what people did for fun around here; we didn't know what to tell him! He treated many animals of ours and was terrific with them and great to us. And he was fun on a dance floor! We will miss him!
My deepest sympathy, thoughts, and prayers are with the family and friends of Dr. Dan. I'm so sorry he lost the battle with cancer. He was a great vet and had a good heart. I Peter 5:7

I am so sorry for your loss. Dan’s passing is also a loss for so many, who his kind, competent treatment of their animals, has touched. He has taken wonderful care of our many dogs over the past 26+ years. He is sorely missed.
We share your sadness and loss. We knew Dr, Dan for more than 25 years and had him to thank for saving the lives of two of our dogs. It was always an experience to go to his office with our various pets. My most memorable was when I brought in our LARGE cat Callie and Dan asked in his big voice "What the hell are you feeding this cat?" When I replied "not much", he countered with "well somebody is!!" And that is why we loved him so much. We could count on him for his skills and his tenderness when it was time to say goodbye to our pets and always that sense of humor and personality. Thank you Doctor Dan for all you did for our family of pets and for us. You are missed. Peace. Irene and Al Hess, Conesville, NY
Dr Dan was the most down to earth, compassionate, and all around greatest guy. He was a valued and Loved member of the community, and he will be greatly missed. my thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff ! There will never be another Vet like dan, he is truly irreplaceable!!! He saved my dogs life, and he will forever be in my thoughts!
Dr. Dan was a wonderful man with a big heart. He was a fantastic doctor who took care of our dogs Rex and Itsio . We will miss him very much and our thoughts and paraders are with his family.
Dan took care of my turkeys, parrot, chickens and all the other strange pets I had. He will be sorely missed. Prayers and peace to the family.
I was 15 years old when I met Dr Dan. I was at boces for health but wanted to focus on animals. The Boces bus would drop me off at his clinic every morning and then I would get picked up at lunch for the 2nd half of the day... he made such a impact on me I'm so happy I got to work with him for 2 years every morning. Such a great man.
Today’s sadness is not due to Covid but Multiple Myeloma. Daniel Sullivan you touched our lives in so many ways. Your veterinary care for our babies was just the tip, your friendship, loving and caring ways and I’m always there for you attitude only made the years of friendship that much more special. You will be missed by every life you touched. Rest In Peace my friend and please look for Neo and Maddie in heaven and give them a hug.
Doctor Dan became our dogs vets about 6 years ago thanks to Missy Runyan. When my now husband moved upstate with his handsome catahoula leopard dog Oden, Dr. Dan saw him in the waiting room and said this is the first purebred Catahoula Leopard dog in this office. Oden hates going to the vet to this day. He is super ornery. When he was around Dr. Dan it was if a spiritual sedative took over in him. My husband one time asked Dr. Dan "ehyvdo you charge so little for your services? I don't mind paying more.". Dr. Dan without a moment of thought said "because I want to make sure everyone is able to get the care their animals need and won't be worried about bringing them to me." That was the essence of Dr. Dan. We didn't know Dr. Dan as well as we would have liked or for as long as we would have liked, but he is forever in our hearts for being there when we needed him for each and every emergency and regular check-up. His class, dignity, and honesty are something we lack so much of in this world and that is what we will always remember him for. RIP
My deepest condolences on your terrible loss. Dr. Dan was such a kind and compassionate person and an incredible doctor. He took the best care of all of our family dogs over the years, and always with such thoughtfulness, wisdom and empathy. He was truly one in a million, and he will be deeply missed. My prayers for you all. Olena Ripnick-O’Farrell
My heart is broken for your loss of such a wonderful man. He was compassionate and kind and always available for us in our time of need. I only hope you find comfort in knowing that the world grieves with you. RIP Dr. Dan.
So sad our furry family members have lost a wonderful veterinarian. He will be missed. Sorry for your loss.
What a nice man. I showed up at his office for the first time with s husky that had messed and lost to a porcupine and a 1 month lamb who was in agony because he developed stones in his urine and couldn't pee. Well as Dr Dan was working on the now out cold husky, the lamb passed the stone in his waiting room and then flooded it with urine. Dr Dan took it in stride. We will be missed
My prayers go out to family. He was a wonderful vet and man and will be greatly missed by pets and owners
Thank You Dr Dan for always being kind and hinest. Our sweet rabbit Punky was well cared for till her very last day. A fair man by all standards. May you Rest In Peace and know that we all appreciated everything you gave. The Barone Family.
