Obituary of Gene F. Muthig

Gene F. Muthig, 86, passed away early Friday Morning, November 8, 2019 at his home.

Born on July 8, 1933 in Liberty,  Gene was the son of Catherine Muthig.

He married Mary Skidmore on Sept. 20, 1953. His beloved wife of 59 years, until her passing on November 21, 2012.

Gene is survived by sisters: Bea Ramp and Ruth Cook; children: Diane and Kenneth Grant, Kenneth and Donna Muthig, Dennis and Diane Muthig and Bonnie and Gleason Stoesser; grandchildren: Robin Grant Bischoping, Ryan Grant, Jennifer Muthig Currie, Kayla Mason, Danyel Flannery, Jason, Michael, Regina and Nathan Stoesser; and fourteen great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his dog “Scooter”.  Gene was predeceased by his brother Bill.

Gene was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather. He worked with his wife for many years operating their milk delivery business. Gene then drove school bus for South Kortright Central School and then Stamford Central School and lastly assisted in the operating of the Spa Shoppe. He was also a Stamford Fire Dept. Fire Commissioner for many years.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will take place at 11AM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive Stamford. Burial will follow at North Kortright Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Gene may be made to the Stamford Fire Department.
