Obituary of Angela Miriam Govern Dinndorf

Angela Miriam Govern Dinndorf lived a full life in her many years with us – all 101 of them. Surrounded by her family, Mim slipped into sleep on June 19th and passed peacefully from this earth on June 26, 2019.

Mim was born in Stamford, New York to Leonard A. Govern and Angela Begley Govern. After graduating from Mount St. Vincents college, she joined the U.S. Navy as a recruiter and became one of the first Navy WAVES this country had. She had many jobs in her lifetime, from teacher to the Red Cross, and the Girl Scouts of America. But her most important and rewarding role was the one she played as a mom.

Mim became a mother and a wife all in the same day back in April of 1961. She married Bill Dinndorf and along with him came two boys and two girls. They were ages 5, 7, 9 and 11.

Mim was an encourager, counselor and teacher to any youngster that came her way. She had plenty of enthusiasm, energy, kindness and loving advice. She was a recycler way before anyone even knew what that was. She loved being outside, hiking and enjoying God’s green earth. She had a way of lifting your spirits and wanted you to know that she believed in you. She never cared for the material things of this world, only bringing joy to those who crossed her path. JOY – Jesus, Others, Yourself – was her favorite word and the essence of her life.

Her family is comforted knowing that when she entered the kingdom of a God she knew well, she heard those wonderful words every Christian longs to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Mim was predeceased by her husband William Dinndorf; daughter Dorothy Dinndorf; grandson August Van Ravenswaay; and sister Connie Govern Fowler Eklund.

She is survived by her half-brother, Leonard Govern Jr.; daughter, Patricia Dinndorf; sons Robert Dinndorf and Pete Dinndorf. daughter in laws, Kim Dinndorf and Noreen Dinndorf; grandchildren Eric Van Ravenswaay, Hope Van Ravenswaay, John Kennedy, James Kennedy, Jason Dinndorf, Allison Dinndorf, Helen Dinndorf; and several nieces, nephews and great grand-children.

Private services and burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Stamford will be held at the convenience of the family.
