Obituary of June Peterson Millward
June P. Millward, 104 of Stamford, passed away on Monday evening, July 15, 2019 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home.
Born on June 20, 1915 in Bertrand, Nebraska, the daughter of the late David and Amanda Peterson.
The Peterson family moved to Bloomville in the early 1930’s and then settled in Stamford where June graduated from Stamford Seminary in 1933.
June worked for New York Telephone Company, first in Albany and then moving to New York City.
She was married to Warren Millward, Sr. in 1951, a union that lasted 29 years until his passing in 1981.
June left New York Telephone in 1952 to raise her children, she later returned to the work force and retired from Public Service Electric and Gas in 1983. June moved back to Stamford in 1993.
She enjoyed gardening, antiques and plants but her greatest passion was for genealogy, June loved to research her family tree and found great pleasure in knowing her roots.
Besides her husband and parents, June was predeceased by her siblings: Stanley Peterson, Frances Moshier and Beverly Blaine.
She is survived by her children: Warren “Bill” (Mary Ann) Millward of Hobart and Peter (Sakina) Millward of Rockaway, NJ; grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew) Lander of Sterling, VA, Allison Millward of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Craig Millward of Fairfax, VA; siblings: Clifford (Gloria) Peterson of Beaver, PA, David (Janet) Peterson of Fredonia, NY and Beulah “Billie” (William) Stevens of New Paltz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Robinson Terrace, AM/PM Home Care, Gloria Reese and Dixie Sperbeck for their professional care over the years.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 2-5PM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where a prayer service will follow at 5PM. Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, 500 Fairview Ave., Fairview, NJ.
