Obituary of Douglas E. Stevens

Douglas E. Stevens, 90, of Fish Hollow, DeLancey, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Delhi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on October 1, 1928 in DeLancey, he was the son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Scott) Stevens.

He was married on May 16, 1953 to Doris J. Stevens, a union that lasted 65 years until Doris’s passing on August 20, 2018. Together they owned and raised their family at Stevensdale Farm in Fish Hollow, DeLancey. Doug had a passion for farming.

Douglas enjoyed the outdoors, working the farm and he enjoyed hunting and gardening. In his younger years, he was a league bowler.  Doug put a great deal of importance on education and was elected to the Andes Central School Board which he proudly served on for over 20 years. He was also a director of the former Andes Co-op Creamery.

He is survived by his children: Carol Stevens of DeLancey, Janice Stevens of DeLancey and Dale (Denise) Stevens of NC; grandchildren: Jamie (Patrick) Stevens-Sands of NC, Douglas (Toni) Stevens of VA and Brian (Jenna) Stevens of NC; brother: Robert (Frances) Stevens of DeLancey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Douglas was also expecting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter in September.
