Obituary of Gary J. Wieland

Gary J. Wieland, 65, of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born on July 4, 1953 in Governors Island, NY, Gary was the son of James Wieland and the late Doris (Faucher) Wieland.

Gary work for several years for Bekins Moving in Amityville, following his retirement about 13 years ago he moved his family to their weekend home in Hobart. 

Gary was and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.  He was also a skilled carpenter and craftsman turning his weekend home in Hobart into their permanent home.   Gary’s greatest joy was his family, he was a loving husband and a proud father.

Besides his mother, Gary was predeceased by his twin brother, Craig.

He is survived by his wife: Margaret Wieland of Hobart; daughters: Ann (James Barr) of Hobart and Megan (Russ Kanser) of Clarksville, TN; father: James (Eileen) Wieland of Ridge; brother: Noel (Marie) Wieland of Spring Hill, FL; sister: Cherie (Abe) Artmann of Pacifica, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 5-8PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 and from 1-4PM on Saturday, June 29 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, NY
