Obituary of Mike Weand

Michael J. Weand, 71, of Harpersfield, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 17, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 13, 1947 in Lancaster, PA, Mike was the son of the late Rose LaForney Weand and Daniel Webster Kehler. He grew up in Frackville, PA and moved to New York State in 1988.

Mike worked at Hunter Mt. Ski Bowl in the Lift Operations Dept. for 15 years, then he worked at the Wisahikon Water bottling plant, Lowes Home Supply and Big-A Auto Parts before retiring to fight his long courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was a quiet soul who enjoyed spending his spare time at home doing carpentry projects and working on model train layouts. He was content relaxing and enjoying the company of his three beloved cats.

Besides his mother, Mike was predeceased by his former wife: Thelma Kase Weand; and sisters: Donna Moran and Lydia Petrosky; and a brother: David Cunningham.

He is surivived by his beloved partner of 30 years: Barbara Cole of Harpersfield and her daughter: Dana; his siblings: MaryAnn DeMalfi, JoAnne Jacobs, Joseph Cunningham and Ricky Cunningham; his children: Linda, Tammy, Michael and Melissa; grandchildren: Bethanie, Heidi and Samantha Weand, Justin Siegel, Jessica and Ashley Stevens, Kira, Kaila, Kelly, Kobe, Kursten, Kyleen, Kory, Kole and Kollin Strouse.

A celebration of life will be held at 1PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Harpersfield United Methodist Church, 343 Col. Harper Dr., Harpersfield, with the Rev. Dottie Morris.
