Obituary of Dale R. Bryden

Dale R. Bryden, 60 of Delhi, passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, March 7, 2019 at Bassett Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Born on April 19, 1958 in Walton, he was the son of Jacob and Winifred (Birdsall) Bryden.

Dale worked for the Village of Delhi for many years and retired as a Water Plant Operator.

He was a former member of the Delhi Fire Department.

Dale enjoyed pulling garden tractors and he was a member of the Catskill Garden Tractor Pullers and Brookfield Garden Tractor Pullers. He was also a member of the Delaware Valley Draft Horse Club where he enjoyed participating in weekend wagon train rides. He also enjoyed raising donkeys at his Lazy Ass Acres Farm and showing them at the Delaware County Fair. He had a passion for attending livestock auctions at Chambers in Unadilla, but Dale’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, often cheering on Michael in the various sporting events and enjoying breakfast with his friends at “his office” at the Country Store.

He was predeceased by his father Jacob Bryden; brother: Donald Conklin; and a brother-in-law: James Gorsch.

Dale is survived by the love of his life for over 33 years: Peggy Hillis; his mother: Winifred Bryden of Delhi/Stamford; his sons: Jamie (Melissa) Bryden of DeLancey and Michael Bryden of Delhi; grandchildren: Jacob Bryden of DeLancey, Cody Beers of Otego, Rhia Beers of Mount Vision, and Brianna Wranovics of Hurley; his siblings: Donna Gorsch, Jerrian (Tom) Cronin, Joan Martini, Jean (Dave) Christensen, Ed Bryden, and Jan Fox, sister-in-law: Sue (John) McCumiskey; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

A Celebration of Life and time of sharing will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 3-6pm at the Delhi Fire Department, 140 Delview Terrace Ext, Delhi.

Contributions in memory of Dale may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Delhi EMS, or to Delhi Fire Department.
