Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Gray

Elizabeth (Betty) Gray, 95, died peacefully Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence.

She was born July 28, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Blanche Stryker in Gilboa, NY.

Betty was the loving wife of the late Harold (Bud) E. Gray.  Bud and Betty were married on December 16, 1950 in Grand Gorge, NY and were happily married for 59 years. Together, they raised three sons.

Betty attended State University College at Oneonta, where she majored in elementary education. She was a first-grade teacher at the Gilboa Conesville Central School where she retired after 40 years. She loved being a teacher and delighted in watching her children grow and blossom through the years.

She and Bud lived in and raised their three sons in Prattsvillle, NY and moved to Guilderland, NY after retiring.  Betty was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren, and doting over and cooking for her family.  She was a faithful Catholic, loved vanilla ice cream, spaghetti and meatballs, playing the piano, bicycling, watching the Yankees and playing pinochle and casino card games with her husband and family.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives Mark (Sandra) Gray, Barry (Rebecca) Gray, Peter (Wendy) Gray, 7 beloved grandchildren, Patrick (Erika), Brian (Suzanne), Casey, Zachary (Chelsey), Shane (Diana), Rachael and Sean (Margaret) Gray and several great grandchildren.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband and her sister Mariam (Kenneth) Petonke.

A private memorial service will be held later this summer.  Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Stamford, NY.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence for the loving care extended to their mother for the last three years and The Community Hospice.
