Obituary of Gertrude Hall

Gertrude Hall, 91, of Bovina Center, passed away early Friday morning, June 29th, 2018 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a long illness.

Born on February 4, 1927 in Dry Brook (Margaretville area), she was the daughter of the late Cedric and Anna Kittle.  She grew up on a dairy farm on Coulter Brook Road with her parents and older sister, Mildred.

She attended grade school on Coulter Brook Road in a small school that still stands today, after 8th grade she went on to graduate from Andes Central School.

During her teenage years, Gertrude met Clifford Hall from Walton at the Friday night square dances at the Bovina Center Comm. Hall.  Although World War II was in progress the couple married and lived a short time in San Francisco where Cliff was stationed in the Navy.  After the war, they settled on a dairy a mile or so down the road from her parents.

Cliff and Gertrude ran the dairy for a decade before beginning a farm vacation business.  For several more years they ran both the dairy farm and vacation business, expanding both and acquiring another farm property on Coulter Brook Road, with the vacation business slowly becoming the main source of income, while operating the business she also was a full-time homemaker as well.  Eventually the couple retired and enjoyed wintering in Florida and later moving into the hamlet of Bovina Center.

Besides her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Cliff of nearly fifty years in May of 1988, one son: Norman; sister, Mildred Reinertsen; and a niece: June Reinertsen Burns.

She is survived by a son: Edwin (Peggy) Hall of NC; grandchildren: Sherri (Peter) Bennett of NC, Edwin (Andrea) Hall of NC, Scott (Lisa) Hall of NJ and Roger (Julie) Hall of Co; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Deven, Leah, Erin, Megan and Magnolia.
