Obituary of Erma Grace Martin
Erma Grace (VerNooy) Martin, 86, was escorted by angels to heaven on January 1st, 2017.
She is now reunited with her beloved siblings Wilber VerNooy, Gladys Rowe, Hattie Dougherty, Pete VerNooy, Margaret Ranker, and Helen Walker.
Erma was born to the late Demmon and Gladys (Condon) VerNooy in Kelsey, NY on March 21, 1930, and following Gladys' passing, Erma was blessed with a second mother, Connie (Dykster) VerNooy.
As a child, Erma attended St. Christina's Episcopal Girls School in Cooperstown. She later graduated in 1948 from South Kortright Central School. It was there where she met her soulmate, Wendell F. Martin.
Erma and Wendell were united as one on September 18, 1948. They have been happily married for sixty-eight years.
Erma spent her married years raising her family and working on their dairy farm. She loved nature, gardening, swimming, and being out and about with her friends. She cherished every moment she had with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and each child had their own special bond with her because of her love and devotion to them.
Erma's beautiful life will forever be treasured in the lives of her children: Edwin W. Martin (wife, Marie), Jacquelyn A. Cook (husband, Richard) all of South Kortright; her grandchildren: Duane Martin of South Kortright, Stephanie Olsen (husband, Gary) of Bloomville, Michelle Sicari (husband, Sal) of Bloomville, Jessica Sobers (husband, Nick) of Laurens, and Victoria Cook of Holtsville; her great-grandchildren: Garrett, Emma, Ava, and Lexi; and many other loving family members and friends.
