Condolences
Aunt Erma lit up the world. She always had a smile and kind words to say about everyone. She loved having fun and cooked the best food I have ever eaten. Her cheese cake was the best. She extended her love and caring way beyond her direct family including her sisters and brothers families as well. You encouraged you to become the best you could be. You always knew you had someone to believe in you. One of my best memories was of the time I spent with her family during my student teaching at South Kortright High School. Had to buy clothes a size bigger after I left. She, Uncle Wendy, Eddie, and Jackie opened their home to me. We had a lot of fun during that time. The woman I am today was because of her coaching, love, and support.
It was always a joy to spend time with her and I visited them every time I was in the area. She never forget a birthday or special occasion and her notes were so wonderful. My friends from college got to know her as well. I will greatly miss her, but know there is a brighter star shining in heaven and what a light she will give to those around her in heaven.
My heart goes out to her beautiful family. Uncle Wendy, Eddie, Jackie and your families.
I am ever grateful for your sharing her with me. God bless you all during this time. May many wonderful memories sustain you. She has left a part of her with all of you and many wonderful moments to recall.
Love to you all.

Aunt Erma, you will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you. You took your extended family under your wing providing unlimited love and caring while not missing a beat with your direct family. Your cooking which you readily shared with friends and family was the most delicious I ever tasted. Loved your cheesecake. One of the most pleasant times of my life was when I did my student teaching in South Kortright and you and your family welcomed me into your home. You and Uncle Wendy were such an inspiration to me. Any success I have been blessed to enjoy was because of the example you provided. I so enjoyed our visits even though they were few because of living out of state. Heaven now has a much brighter star. My heart goes out to Uncle Wendy, Eddie, Jackie and their families. May many wonderful memories sustain you during the days ahead. She will always be in our hearts.
Love to you,
Lorri Christopher
Aunt Erma was a most amazing woman with a heart that enveloped her extended family as well as her own. I was blessed to do my student teaching in South Kortright and stay with Aunt Erma, Uncle Wendy, Eddie, and Jackie. She made the best cheesecake ever, always had a smile and encouragement for me if I had a bad day. I was honored to have her as my aunt. She never forgot a birthday or important holiday. She was a major contributor and inspiration for any success I have enjoyed by her example. Although we lived far apart, I never missed the chance to see her if I was in the area. God gave us a gift when he put her on earth. She is now bringing joy to those in heaven. Will miss you so much.

MacArthur Funeral Home created a Tribute Video in memory of Mrs Erma Grace Martin
Erma was a wonderful woman, full of love and full of fun. I got to know her from church and looked forward to receiving her warm hugs and cheerful greetings. She and Wendell were dinner guests at our Bovina home; and Pete and I were greatly honored to know the Martins. Condolences to her family and may Erma rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Erma was a dear and caring friend. She remembered birthdays and holidays with a thoughtful card and an upbeat news filled note. Sometimes with pictures of a grandchild or great grandchild. She enjoyed celebrating accomplishments and milestones of all her family. And was equally interested in the families of friends.
And what a housekeeper and cook. Top notch. A few years ago when I visited she was busy cleaning the trap in her kitchen sink. Nothing missed her eye or her nose.
Family dinners were like Thanksgiving, even if it was the middle of summer--home made rolls, pickles, choice of desserts-- she did it all. Not only did she keep her house 'spiffed up' she kept the little Bloomville church vacuumed and ready for Sunday services.
She would sometimes say, that she felt out of the loop, but somehow always knew the best places to shop and eat out. She was full of fun and always found something to giggle about.
She has left a wonderful family behind and we honor her spirit and remember our good times with her.

I have a lifetime of wonderful memories of Erma, she was a truly rare and special person. rest and may peace be with you Aunt Erma.
God Bless Erma and the family. I remember Erma walking the road and always with a smile and a friendly wave. She demonstrated the importance of a smile. Even when she wasn't feeling well she smiled and would ask about how others were. Truly a wonderful person.
I remember as a child going to the farm with my Mom and later my Dad, to see Aunt Erma and Uncle Wendy. And then when I got married, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Patty took me there with my husband. God Bless you all at this time.

I only got to know Erma in these last few years, especially after her recent operation. It was wonderful coming to visit her with my husband, Darius. I learned some things about her family history and was delighted to find that she and my dad shared a beneficiary in the Garys. She will certainly be missed. Darius and I will continue to pray for your family as you struggle with your loss. God's peace and strength be with you all.
