Obituary of Theresa L. Hamilton

Theresa "Te" L. Hamilton, Delhi, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Born November 16, 1925, Theresa was married to John "Jack" T. Hamilton for 61 years. Theresa was born in Plattsburgh, NY, graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh, moved to Delhi and was a Home Economics teacher at Delaware Academy. Te was an active partner with Jack in their many varied local business endeavors. Te was an avid golfer, tennis player and skier. Te loved playing bridge with friends and took up mahjong in her 80s. Her love of children made her a natural Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader as well as a volunteer teacher's aide at the Delaware Academy Grade School. She will be most fondly remembered as mother and Mime to her family. Te was predeceased by her loving husband and partner, Jack and her son John T. Hamilton, Jr. of Delhi. She is survived by their son Mark Hamilton and his wife Bonnie of Delhi; son Peter Hamilton and his wife Jane of Delhi; daughter Anne Hamilton-Kean and her husband Rick of Hawley, MA; daughter-in-law Julia Hamilton of Delmar, NY; granddaughter Amanda (Mandy) Walsh and her great-grandsons Rowan, Brennan and Kieran of Delhi; granddaughter Katherine (Kate) Hamilton Klein of Port Jervis, NY; granddaughter Marcella (Marcie) Hamilton Gallucci and her husband John of Oneonta, NY and her great granddaughter Holdyn; grandson John T. Hamilton, III (JT) and his wife Whitney of Brooklyn, NY; grandson Peter J. Hamilton, II (PJ) and his wife Darcy of Upton, MA and her great granddaughters Emmie and Charley; granddaughter Sara Hamilton of Gainsville, FL; grandson Daniel Stoecker of Seattle, WA; granddaughter Jessica (Jess) Hamilton of Seattle, WA; and granddaughter Theresa (Tessa) Stoecker of East Islip, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Peter's RC Church, Cross St., Delhi, with Rev. Edward Golding, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Bassett Healthcare, O'Conner Hospital or your charity of choice in memory of Theresa Hamilton.
