Obituary of Joan A. Barber

Joan A. Barber,66 of Treadwell, New York passed away on Sunday, February 22,2015 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, New York. She was born in Queens, New York on October 17, 1948, the daughter of Anne M. and Francis X. Boyle. She married Michael J. Barber on June 28, 1975. A forty year resident of the area, Joan was a retired teacher from A.L. Kellogg School, she taught for 36 years and was highly respected. She was dedicated to her students, worked arduously to provide the best education possible for them and loved her profession. She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church and the New York State United Teachers. She enjoyed her grandchildren, family gatherings, hiking in the Adirondacks, kayaking and swimming in her pool. She was an avid reader, loved to vacation with family in Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach and Paradox Lake. She is survived by her husband Michael J. Barber at home; her two daughters, Michelle Barber Townsend (Eli) and Jeanine Barber Microni (Frank). She is also survived by her two sisters, Patricia Branigan Merwin and Anne Marie Boisjolie; and 2 brothers, Richard Boyle and Kevin Boyle. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 12:00 (noon) at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Delhi, NY with Rev. Edward Golding celebrant. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 26,2015 from 6-9pm at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, NY. Burial in Croton Union Cemetery will take place in the Spring at the family convenience.
