Obituary of Karen E. Travell
Karen E. Travell, 69, of Stamford, passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, January 19, 2016 at AO Fox Hospital in Oneonta, surrounded by her family.
Born on December 27, 1946 in Ilion, she was the daughter of the late William and Shirley (Adams) Pedersen.
Karen moved to Delaware County in 1964, she was a graduate of Delhi College with a degree in Business. She worked for several local businesses, including the Stamford Hospital, Dr. Fargnoli DDS of Delhi, Covidien/Mallinckrodt in Hobart, Stamford Sunoco, and she retired from Grand Union in Stamford.
She was married for over 33 years to Charles Travell on December 31, 1981.
Karen enjoyed bowling, cooking, baking and often could be found running the kitchen during family meals. She and her husband Charlie spent a great deal of time with their close friends, Bob and Gail Pritchard of S. Gilboa, playing cards, especially UNO. Above all else, Karen was a loving mother and proud grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Charles of Stamford; children: Larry M. (Barbara Couchman) Miller, Jr of Hobart, and Kimberley (Luc) Walterthum of France; grandchildren: Madison and Gus Miller of Hobart, and Clara and Isabelle Walterthum of France; Aunt: Eleanor Pedersen; sister-In-Laws and brother-In-Laws, Laura LaFever, Jean Travell, Sarah Ballard, Skip Travell and John Travell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Karen was predeceased by and infant son, Edward Allen Miller; sister and brother-in-laws: Effie, Cecil and Howard Travell and Norah Hewitt.
Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
