Obituary of Susan M. Morales

Delhi, NY - Susan Marie Mangan Morales, a longtime resident of the Delhi area, passed away Friday, May 15th, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. Born on August 30, 1951, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Edward Mangan and Anne (Howe) Mangan. Sue was a speech pathologist at Delaware Academy and Central School from '74-'14. She was a beloved mother, wife, friend, teacher, sister, and daughter. Anyone who knew Sue remembers her radiant smile, her contagious laugh, her big heart, and her caring and thoughtful personality. She was an amazing listener, and always took the time for anyone who needed it. Whether it was a close friend or complete stranger, everyone felt a sense of comfort in opening up and talking to her, leaving with a sense that they were not only listened to, but understood as well. Sue enjoyed the simple things in life; that a day on the porch with a glass of wine and good book was a day well spent. She enjoyed walking, reading, and taking in the beauty of each day. But most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She was the glue that held everything and everyone together. Sue was always the one that people turned to for advice and was the crying shoulder, mentor, and friend to anyone in need. She was an amazing mother and wife, and not a day went by without her letting them know how much she loved and supported them. To her three children Meg, Matt, and Mike, she was their biggest supporter, cheerleader, and role model. Susan was a loving wife to Dominic; the couple shared 35 years of marriage. Sue truly loved her job, and loved the coworkers she was fortunate enough to call friends as well. She looked forward to seeing her student's faces, and made sure they never left her office without a smile. She loved life, and the people she shared it with. Sue does not want anyone to grieve over her passing, but rather smile and remember the time spent together, the laughs shared, and the memories made. Sue is survived by her mother, Anne Mangan; husband, Dominic; children, Meg, Matt and Mike; siblings: Anne, Peter, Kevin, Daniel, Kate & Mare; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends and students. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Wednesday, May 20th, at St. Peter's Church, Cross Street, in Delhi. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Tuesday, May 19th at Hall and Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. Contributions in memory of Sue may be made to the Morales Family Scholarship Fund with Donations payable to The College Foundation Delhi, 454 Delhi Drive, Delhi, NY 13753, please include "Morales Family Scholarship" in the memo line.
