Obituary of Marjorie L. Stanton
Marjorie L. Stanton, 73, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, October 20, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on November 4, 1942 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Alton G. and Mary Ellen (Haner) Scutt.
Marjorie was a 1960 graduate of Gilboa Central School. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the former Countryside Care Center in Delhi until illness forced her retirement.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts, Marjorie was a talented musician, playing the piano, clarinet and also played the organ. In her earlier years she liked to bowl and was active in a few of the local bowling leagues. She enjoyed spending time with her feline companions, Simmie and Sammie. Marjorie also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and fishing. One of her greatest joys was being a weather watcher for Steve LaPointe at WRGB news, being honored to be one of the longest tenured people to serve the position.
She is survived by her children: Chris (Janine) Putman of Middleburgh and Selena Putman of Bloomville; one sister: Kendra (Donald) Cornell of Gilboa; two brothers: Lawrence "Buz" (Emma) Scutt of Leesville, LA and Randall C. Scutt of Albany; grandchildren: Ryan Putman (US Navy) of Norfolk, VA and Malorie and Nick Righi both of Middleburgh; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marjorie's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sue Nelson for the special care she extended to Marjorie during her illness.
At Marjorie's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
