Obituary of James E. Marschilok

James (Jim) E. Marschilok, 77 of Hobart, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 28, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

On December 15, 1945, Jim was born on the family farm on Hobart Hill Road in Hobart, NY. He was the son of the late Wallace Marschilok and Annie (Decker) Marschilok Beers. He was the youngest of four children. (Wallace John, Winfield Fredrick, Elizabeth Ann)

Jim’s passions were fishing, golfing and deer hunting. In his younger years he was a baseball coach for the All-Star team for the American Legion. He played softball for the Ideal Gardens team at Archibald field. He also bowled on a Friday night men’s league at Scotch Valley Lanes. He was a unique individual with a large sense of humor. He was a man of many stories, some factual and others not so factual, all that would draw out an inspiring conclusion. He had a soft spot for animals in need, especially dogs.

He is survived by four children: Rosemary Alwine of Delhi, Janet (Randy) Roe of Hobart, Jamie (Lauralee) Marschilok of Hobart and Danielle (Andy) Mattice of South Kortright; nine grandchildren: Justine (Jeff) Gorsch of East Meredith, Connor Alwine of Delhi, Michael Roe of North Carolina, Joshua (Kaela) Roe of Stamford, Lindsey Roe of Clinton, Chazz Reeves of Hobart, Jalyn MarschiloK of Hobart, Cody Mattice of South Kortright and Dylan Mattice of South Kortright; great-granddaughter: Kylee Rose Alwine; sister: Elizabeth Reed; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Jim’s request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
