Obituary of Edna A. Bryden
HAMDEN
Edna A. Bryden, 92, of Hamden passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
She was born in Hamden, the daughter of Melvin and Clara (Blanchard) Gray. She was predeceased by her husband Merwyn Bryden.
A lifelong area resident, Edna worked side by side with her husband Merwyn operating the family farm on Launt Hollow in Hamden for several years.
She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends as well as cooking and baking for family gatherings; sharing her famous dinner rolls. Edna was a quilter and made many quilts for her family. In the summer she loved being outside in her garden.
Edna was a member of the Hamden Senior Citizens and the Hamden Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha (Wesley) Burczak; grandchildren, William J. Bryden, Sarah (Matt) Ferguson, Trevor Bryden, Eric (Katherine) Bryden, Theodore (Catherine) Burczak, James (Teresa) Burczak, and Sue (Jan) Kratky; 6 great grandchildren, Jack, George, Carly and Grace Burczak, and Max and Sigi Bryden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her sons, John, Bill and Doug Bryden; and a sister, Pearl.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Hamden Presbyterian Church, Hamden, with Rev. Marena Vittorio officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Hamden Cemetery, Hamden.
Contributions are asked to be made to the Hamden Presbyterian Church, the American Heart Association or the Delhi Emergency Squad.
