Obituary of Richard B. Hotaling

SOUTH KORTRIGHT Richard B. Hotaling 73, of South Kortright passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at home in South Kortright. He was born on April 2, 1940 in Schenevus, the son of Theron J. and Beatrice (Banker) Hotaling. He married Vera Reinshagen on May 14, 1988 in South Kortright. Richard worked as a road construction worker for many years. After he and his wife Vera were married, they owned and operated a dairy farm on Roses Brook Road in South Kortright for 25 years. He is survived by his wife Vera of South Kortright; 2 daughters, Sandy and Ben Guenther of Oneonta, and Peggy Wells of Otego; 2 sons, Timothy and Pam Hotaling of Westfield, and Richard Hotaling; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, William and Sandy Hotaling of Oneonta, Roger Hotaling of Oneonta; and Eugene Hotaling of Esperance; 3 sisters, Linda Emerson of Oneonta, Janet Hotaling of Cooperstown, and Priscilla Hotaling of Tampa, Fla; many nieces and nephews; and 5 step children, Lori and Douglas Laing of South Kortright, Robin Marschilok of Cohacton, Susan Reinshagen of South Kortright, Dennis and Mary Reinshagen of South Kortright, Charles and Jeanette Reinshagen of Greene; 10 step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth Hotaling and Theron J. Hotaling, Jr., and 2 sisters, June Olmstead and Patricia Van Dyke. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart, with Rev. Bert More officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Richard's memory are asked to be made to Catskill Area Hospice.
