Obituary of Robert H. Currie

DELHI Robert H. Currie, 57 of Delhi, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 10, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 1, 1955 in Delhi, the son of Richard Currie and Lois McDonald. He married Gail Winkler on June 28, 1975 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Delhi. A life-long area resident, Robert was a graduate of Delaware Academy, class of 1973. He worked at Dellwood in Fraser and eventually opened Hill Top Guns in Delhi in March of 1984. Operating Hill Top Guns until 1992, Robert eventually changed his focus to carpentry and custom cabinet making. In 2000 he opened Robert Currie's Custom Cabinetry which he operated currently. Robert was an avid hunter and outdoorsmen. His pride and joy was as coach for the DA Girls Softball team. He began coaching the team in 2003 and enjoyed it greatly up until his death. Robert was once an active member of the Hamden Fish & Game Club. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail Currie of Delhi; a daughter, Tera L. and Richard Talbot III of Delhi; a son, Bryn R. Currie of Syracuse; his mother, Lois McDonald of Hamden; a sister, Denise and Mike Yeary of Hamden; a brother, Charles Currie of Hamden; a step-brother, Richard & Sherry Bryden of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Currie. Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Hamden Cemetery, Hamden, with Deb Fleming officiating.
